Biography

After studying musicology at the Sorbonne, Floriane Derthe studied voice in Paris with Anne-Marguerite Werster before continuing her training at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne (HEMU), where she completed both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in solo performance in the class of Brigitte Balleys. She graduated in 2021 and was awarded the Fritz Bach Prize in recognition of the excellence of her Master’s recitals and her studies in Lausanne. A prizewinner at the 2021 Georges Liccioni International Competition, where she received the Special Jury Prize, she is currently a member of the Opera Studio of the Opéra National du Rhin.

On stage, her roles include the Princess (The Snow Queen by Hans Abrahamsen), the Fire and the Nightingale (L’Enfant et les Sortilèges), and the Nightingale (Les Rêveurs de la Lune by Howard Moody) at the Opéra National du Rhin; a Siren (Rinaldo) at the Opéra de Lausanne; Cunégonde (Candide by Bernstein), Amour (La Petite Balade aux Enfers, after Gluck’s Orphée) and Clorinda (La Cenerentolina, after Rossini’s La Cenerentola) at the Opéra National du Rhin; Lucy (The Telephone by Menotti) and Pierrette (Une ruse de Pierrette by Eva Dell’Acqua) at the BCV Concert Hall in Lausanne; and Babette, Amarante, Javotte and Hersilie (La Fille de Madame Angot) at the Opéra de Nice and the Opéra Comique. More recently, she sang Constance (Dialogues des Carmélites) at the Opéra de Lausanne.

With a particular interest in Lied and French mélodie, she forms the Duo Hekla with pianist Hugo Mathieu. The duo has received awards at the 2019 Toulouse International French Mélodie Competition and the 2020 “Les Saisons de la Voix” Competition in Gordes.

Together, they have performed in Switzerland, appeared on RTS broadcasts, and given recitals as well as performances at the Musicales du Luberon Festival.

Her forthcoming engagements include the Fire and the Nightingale in L’Enfant et les Sortilèges at the Opéra Comique.
