Biography

 

Ronan Nédélec studied voice at the CNSM in Paris under Rachel Yakar and Peggy Bouveret and received his degree in 2000. He then perfected his craft under Ruben Lifschitz, focusing on Lieder and French melody.  

He quickly appeared on stage, including in Samson (Handel) at the Ambronay Festival and in works such as Don Giovanni, Die Zauberflöte, Carmen, Les Brigands (Offenbach), Werther, Faust, Madama Butterfly, La Bohême  and L’Enfant et les Sortilèges at the Tours, Rennes, Lille, Montpellier, Caen and Limoges Operas, the Opéra-Comique and the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, the Radio-France Festival…

He has been invited to many festivals in France and abroad and has completed many recordings. In 2002, he was the Forester (Janacek’s Cunning Little Vixen) at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, where he was welcomed once more for Les Tréteaux de Maître Pierre (Falla) and Renard (Stravinsky) with Pierre Boulez and Klaus Michael Grüber, which were also performed in Luxemburg and Vienna.

He then debuted the title role of G. Dazzi’s Luthier de Venise at the Théâtre du Châtelet, and sang Zurga (Les Pêcheurs de Perles) in Tours. He has appeared in Otello in Reims, Hindemith’s Neues vom Tage in Dijon, Menotti’s The Telephone/Amelia al Ballo, Dialogues des Carmélites, Tosca, Fidelio and Faust in Tours. He debuted at La Scala in Milan in Roméo et Juliette with Y. Nézet-Séguin and B. Sher.

He has performed a very broad repertoire on stage and in concert under the batons of reknowned conductors including J. Nelson, J.-C. Casadesus, A. Altinoglu, J.-Y. Ossonce, M. Franck, S. Mälkki, T. Koopman, H. Niquet, G. Lesne, R. Goebel, C. Hogwood…

More recently, he has sung in productions of Il Trittico, La Traviata, Madama Butterfly and Belle Hélène at the Tours Opera, and as Altoum (Turandot) in the Soirées Lyriques de Demetrius (Midsummer Night's dream) in Tours an Fiorello (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) in Saint-Etienne..
