Biography
Paul-Émile Burgevin began his musical studies at an early age, initially learning the piano before joining the choirs of the Lyon Regional Conservatoire and Lyon Cathedral, where he discovered his passion for singing.
After studying literature and political science, he entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Lyon, before continuing his training at the Paris Conservatoire, where he studied with Frédéric Gindraux.
He has benefited from the teaching and guidance of Pierre Ribemont, Christian Immler, Stéphane Degout, François Leroux, Cyrille Dubois, Karine Deshayes and Delphine Haidan. He has also studied chamber music with Anne Le Bozec, Hélène Lucas, Olivier Reboul, Susan Manoff and Andreas Frese.
On stage, he has performed the roles of Adonis in John Blow’s Venus and Adonis and El Tiempo in Antonio Literes’s Los Elementos, both with the European Young Baroque Orchestra. He has also appeared as L’Horloge and Le Chat in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les sortilèges, conducted by Nicolas Chalvin in a production directed by Benoît Bénichou, and more recently at the Opéra de Toulon.
In concert, he has sung the title role in Mendelssohn’s Elijah at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris under the direction of David Reiland. Passionate about poetry, French mélodie and German Lied, he has formed three recital duos, each with its own artistic objectives and repertoire.
In 2026, he was awarded the Excellence Prize at the Gordes International Mélodie Competition.
His forthcoming engagements include the role of Belcore in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP), in a co-production with the Philharmonie de Paris, directed by Myriam Marzouki and conducted by Tito Ceccherini.
