Biography
After studying voice at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne, Jelena Dojcinovic graduated with a Master’s degree in Solo Performance in 2020. Since then, she has been invited to perform with various opera companies and concert organisations, appearing in such roles as Violetta (La Traviata), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), Mimì (La Bohème) and Agathe (Der Freischütz).
A prizewinner at several international competitions, she was awarded Third Prize at the Luigi Zanuccoli International Competition, as well as the Audience Prize at the WunderKammer Orchestra competition in Pesaro in both 2022 and 2023.
She has also received scholarships from the Friedel-Walder and Lyra Foundations.
On the concert platform, she has performed Samuel Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915 at the BCV Hall in Lausanne under the baton of Nicholas Chalvin, Willem Jeths’s A Tell-Tale Heart, and Gustav Mahler’s Das himmlische Leben in Urbino and Ancona. In Pesaro, she performed a selection of opera arias in a concert commemorating the centenary of Maria Callas’s birth, accompanied by pianist Lorenzo Bavaj.
With a particular affinity for the recital repertoire, she has performed Hugo Wolf’s Italienisches Liederbuch in Wetzikon and Marcus Nigsch’s Schwanengesänge in Feldkirch.
Jelena Dojcinovic also performs regularly in duo with pianist Urska Strekelj, with whom she explores the South Slavic song repertoire, and with accordionist Nermin Tulic in programmes devoted to Bosnian songs.
