Biography

Originally from Strasbourg, Mireille Delunsch made a rapid debut at the Opéra du Rhin after extensive musical training, continuing her career on major national and international stages.

Her repertoire ranges from Monteverdi to Varèse, touching on the baroque, especially Gluck and Rameau, as well as Mozart’s great heroines (Contessa, Fiordiligi, Vitellia, Elvira, Elettra), which has earned her the interest of the great opera houses (Paris, Bordeaux, Grand Théâtre de Tours, Lyon, La Scala in Milan, Brussels, Copenhagen, Festival de Salzburg, Festival d’Aix). She has sung a wide variety of roles, such as Violetta (La Traviata), Poppea, The Governess (The Turn of the Screw), Elsa (Lohengrin), Katia Kabanova, Jenufa, Louise, Valentine (Les Huguenots), Blanche de la Force, Madame Lidoine, Salomé…

She has worked with major international conductors such as Marc Minkowski, Jean-Yves Ossonce, Simon Rattle and Daniel Harding, and with directors such as Klaus Michael Grüber, Luc Bondy, Peter Mussbach, Peter Brook and Michael Haneke.

More recently, she has played Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus) at the Tours Opera, Iphigénie (Iphigénie en Tauride) at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Rosine (La Mère Coupable) at the Theater an der Wien, the Governess (Turn of the Screw) at the Bordeaux OperaDidon (Dido & Aeneas) at the Vichy Opera, Madame Larina (Eugene Oneguin) at the Paris Théâtre des Champs-Elysées,Mayor's Wife (Jenufa) in Toulouse.

While continuing to pursue her career as a classical singer, Mireille Delunsch has also tried her hand at directing (Dialogues des Carmélites in Bordeaux and Nantes, receiving critical acclaim).
