Biography

Born in Bulgaria in a family of musicians, the Bulgarian Swiss soprano Diana Lamar after her vocal studies in Italy, in New York City became a resident of the Queen Elisabeth of Belgium Chapelle Musicale where she studied with Jose van Dam and in master classes with Helmut Deutsch, Ian Bostrige, Julius Drake, Helen Donath, Tom Krause, June Anderson, Anita Garanca…

She has been awarded numerous scholarships and grants, including the MARIA CALLAS Tribute Prize in New York City in 2019, 1st prize at the Concorso Internazionale per Cantanti Lirici “Città di Alcamo” 2018, the 2010 & 2011 Fritz-Gerber Stiftung Grant, the 2009 Pour-cent Culturel Migros Grant and the 2010 Lyra Stiftung Grant and received an award in the 2020 Best New Singer category by the Saya Opera Awards for her interpretation of Elektra.

On Stage, she has sung Elektra in Sofia, Palermo, Wiesbaden and at the Deagu Opera house, Tatiana (Eugen Oneguin), Lisa (Pique Dame), Senta (Fliegende Holländer) in Sofia, Elsa (Lohengrin) Bucarest National Opera, Abigaille (Nabucco) in Graz, Judith ( Blue-Bearded Castle) in Palermo.

In Concert, she has sung the Richard Strauss’s Vier Letze Lieder, Francis Poulenc’s Gloria and Olivier Messiaen‘s Poèmes pour Mi in Montreux, Mahler’s Rückert Lieder and Morton Feldman’s Three Voices in Brussels and more recently in a concert Roberto Alagna et Friends in Lausanne.

Last season she was Medea (Cherubini’s Medea) in Sofia, Senta (Der Fliegende Holländer) in Beijing , Santuzza (Cavalleria Rusticana) I,n Wroclawska and Tosca in Bydgoszcz and in Lima.

Among her future projects, she will sing the part of Cio-Cio San (Madama Butterfly) in Bydgoszcz
