Biography

 

After studying clarinet, saxophone and drama at the Bordeaux Conservatory, Thomas Bettinger joined Lionel Sarrazin’s Lyric Art class and won the Irène Jaumillot Prize in the 2008 Béziers National Competition. He holds a scholarship from the Cercle Wagnérien de Bordeaux.

He has sung  Tamino (The Magic Flute) in Libourne, La Cerisaie at the Opéra National de Paris, Lucano and Liberto (Poppea e Nerone) at the Montpellier Opera, Hermès (Joncières’s Le Dernier jour de Pompéi) and Hélios (David’s Herculanum) at the Cité de la Musique, Cavaradossi (Tosca) at the Saint-Étienne Opera,  Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) at the Reims Opera, Die Schöpfung with the Avignon Orchestra, L'Amant (Amelia va au bal) at the Metz Opera,  Berlioz's Romeo et Juliette  in Saint-Etienne.

More recently, he has sung Beethoven's 9th Symphony in Bordeaux, Avignon, the title role of Faust in Massy, Saint-Étienne, Reims and Metz, Rustighello (Lucrezia Borgia) in Toulouse, Des Grieux (Manon) at the Bordeaux National Opera, il Duca (Rigoletto) in Metz and in Reims, le Chevalier de la Force (Dialogues des Carmélites) in Toulouse, Lensky (Eugène Oneguine) in Marseille, Don José (Carmen) at the Massy Opera, in Reims, Andres (Wozzeck) in Toulouse,the title role of Werther in Nice  and in Marseille, Lancelot (Joncière's Lancelot) in Saint-Etienne, Alfredo (Traviata) in Saint-Etienne, Faust (Faust) in Québec, Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) in Metz, Arturo (Lucia di Lammermoor) at the Opéra National de Paris, le Chevalier de la Force (Dialogues des Carmélites) at the Opéra National de Bordeaux, Roméo (Roméo et Juliette)  in Québec, Gérard (Lakmé) in Nice, the Prince (Rusalka) and Cavaradossi (Tosca) in Reims.
