Biography
After studying interior design at the École Boulle, Christophe Berry studied piano and voice and then perfected his art with Jean-Marie Siougos of the Paris Opera.
He made his stage debut in the role of Gontran (Les Mousquetaires au Couvent), followed by Camille de Coutançon (Die Lustige Witwe). He also tackled contemporary repertoire with Ivorra’s Requiem.
He spent a few years playing various roles in Der Rosenkavalier, Peter Grimes, Eugene Onegin…
Since 2004, he has regularly performed at the Bordeaux Opera, in roles including Pong (Turandot), a Sailor and the Shepherd (Tristan und Isolde), Siebel (Faust) and Sir Hervey (Anna Bolena).
He has also played Sextus (Polyeucte), Gérald (Lakmé) and the Remendado (Carmen) at the Saint-Étienne Opera, Der Narr (Wozzeck) at the Nancy Opera, a Sailor and the Shepherd (Tristan und Isolde) at the Montpellier, Angers-Nantes and Dijon Operas, the Chaplain (Dialogues des Carmélites) and Normanno (Lucia di Lammermoor) at the Marseille Opera, Snout (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) at the Nancy and Toulon Operas and the Théâtre de Caen, Camille de Coutançon at the Marseille and Tours Operas, Gérald (Lakmé) in Cairo, at the Lausanne Opera and in Santiago, Chile, Brighella (Ariadne auf Naxos), the Chevalier de la Force (Dialogues des Carmélites) and Nicias (Thaïs) at the Tours Opera, Gardefeu (La Vie Parisienne) at the Nancy and Montpellier Operas, Laërte (Hamlet) at the Saint-Étienne and Marseille Operas and the Opéra du Rhin, Tybalt (Roméo et Juliette) at the Lausanne and Tours Operas, il Duca (Rigoletto) at the Tours and Reims Operas, Tapioca (L’Etoile) at the Nancy Opera and the title role of Fortunio at the Limoges and Rennes Operas.
He recently played the role of Edwin (Kálmán’s Die Csárdásfürstin) at the Nice Opera, Borsa (Rigoletto) at the Paris National Opera and at the Chorégies d’Orange, Gastone (La Traviata) aux Chorégies d’Orange, Ruiz (Il Trovatore), Rolla (I Masnadieri) in Monte-Carlo, Riccardo (Ernani), Borsa (Rigoletto), Sir Robertson (I Puritani), Il Conte di Lerma (Don Carlo) at the Marseille Opera, Jean (Massenet’s La Vierge) in Saint-Etienne, Cassio (Otello) and Daland’s Steersman (Fliegende Holländer) at the Massy Opera, Das Lied von der Erde in Marseille, Alfred (Chauve-Souris) at the Marseille Odéon, De Crousaz (Davel) in Lausanne.
